Not really. Story, game mechanics, level design, biome, pokemon all change and some are of more quality than others

1. fire type
2 water type
3. grass type

>You go out of your home town and catch some bird and bug types
>you fight your "rival"
>You get your first gym badge
>They tell you where to go next
>Maybe you go in cave and get some ground and rock types
>Get your second gym badge
>Team rocket fights you
>you kick their goon ass
>Go on the beach and get some water types
>fight your "rival" again who's pokemon are ten-twenty levels behind you
>third gym badge
>more caves innit
>you are given fly move, now you can fast travel
>go into jungle area and get some bug types
>fourth gym badge
>get given swim move, now you can go on the sea
>catch some fish pokemon
>go into safari area and catch pikachu
>fifth gym badge
>team rocket blocks the road to next city
>kill them again
>go into team rocket's base of operations
>find master ball laying around on the floor
>6th gym badge
>team rocket awakens super pokemon
>world gonna end
>beat the shit out of super pokemon
>catch it
>seventh gym badge
>eighth gym badge but head of gym is boss if team rocket (what a surprise)
>fight the pokemon master and become master yourself

Ever thought that you don’t have to catch everything in the same spot Jfl not every game is like this but yeah the newer games are not as good ngl but that new open world game was good. Just because the Pokémon games have a formula doesn’t mean they are the same quality. Black and white is surprisingly one of my favorites, good story, good level design overall pretty enjoyable. Most of the Nintendo DS Pokémon are good

Pokemon X & Y because I had fond memories playing it with friends in middle school and going for 2D pokemon to 3D pokemon was insnae.
In retrospect the game was shit, low effort, had a bad story and was too easy. But I just had a lot of good memories with it.

Yo check out Shin Megami Tensei(SMT) series if you want games with a similar to pokemon battle system with actually good story.
One of my favorite games of all time "Digital Devil Saga" (part of SMT franchise) is turnbased RPG very similar to pokemon, great philosophical story too I recommend you try emulating it for free. Just make sure to avoid ANY spoilers go in completely blind.

Pokémon Heart Gold, the two regions looked so good on the ds, all the side quests and legendaries made the game way longer than the others. Felt like an actual adventure.
