I can't tell if I'm psychosis/not in touch with reality. How retarded does this sound?

I want to confront a friend about them being secretly on the brink suicidal

I feel like their subconconcious wants me to save them.

when they feel bad they say " I want to kill myself" as a joke but isn't that a warning sign.

They tell me about troubles sleeping.
Overly positive all the time, this is a sign of being on the brink of suicide. Every suicide victim has their friends and family talk about how nice of a guy he was. He never got mad, was the nicest person they knew.

am I thinking clearly?
