if you're pretty and want to know what fragrances to wear, look no further.

you don't want anything where spicy, woody, smoky, or musk notes are dominant. you also do not want anything too gourmand, the smell of prettyboy should not make people want to eat you, you must have an enigmatic, inviting, viper-like but exquisite scent that inspires a vague sense of divine terror and utter submission to the primordial androgyne, akin to what orthodox christians experience when viewing an icon. maybe JUST gourmand enough that it causes some salivation, but you don't want to create the image of food or eating (barbaric).

you generally want a powdery scent with gender neutral, even slightly feminine, with lavender, iris, some floral notes, maybe citrus. It is best they are very powdery. you need to smell like you just walked out of your family's vacation graeco-roman villa in palermo where you drank tea from fine silverware. you want weaker scents that do not project much and that are not very loud, but have a good sillage nonetheless. you want to induce the olfactory equivalent to this gaze:

On this note (pun intended), the best scents for such a young man are to be found in Celine's Haute Parfumerie.

the badboy prettyboy teenage poet from haussmannian paris. here's a poem of his so you get the idea:

Clear water: stinging like the child’s salt tears,
Whiteness of women’s bodies attacking the sun:
Silk, en masse and pure lily, Oriflammes
Under walls a Maid defended without fear:

Dancing of angels: – No...the gold current slid
Moving its dark arms, tired, cool above all, and green.
She, sombre, having the blue Heavens for canopy,
Summoned, as curtains, the arch and the hill’s shade.

- Saint-Germain-des-Prés
a powdery floral symphony at once both grandma-esque and youthful. a blast of green that melts into a powdery innocence with sparkles of white floral. would go well on a dark triad prettyboy with an especially innocent face to create a fascinating disaccord between scent, personality, face, and action. since you would expect it most on a 50 yo classy woman, the shattering of expectations would be delicious. would be too predictable and infantile on a well behaved boy though.

- Black Tie
a slightly more sultry version of rimbaud with less of a lavender opening and more erotic, but never sexual; a hint of creeping darkness reminiscent of that fallen angel painting; does not quite live up to the name, it is not necessarily a formal scent, but smells no less expensive, it would go well on a slender-framed but wide-shouldered young man wearing a billowy button down from Lanvin or The Row

The description from the House encapsulates it better than I can: "An androgynous composition, around vanilla as dense and as crisp as grain de poudre or lacquered satin. Fashioned like a dinner jacket, cedar and tree moss structure its allure, while the powdery caress of orris troubles body and mind."

Outside celine you have some good options

Pour un Homme de Caron
An old scent from 1934, i would say, philosophically, it's somewhere between celine's rimbaud and saint-germain-des-prés, but retains the former's life-and-death struggle between vanilla and lavender. I picture it on a modern day herschel grynspan, the jewish boy in nazi-occupied paris that assassinated an occupier and was in turn punished with death. at the end of the flower road lies the hint of a death of beauty, which strikes primordial fear in the old money czech grandma and the gymmaxed psl 4.25 mtn from suburban Michigan alike. Perhaps even more so the latter.

I always wear floral fragrances .

bro is trying to transition

I do not use this anymore but I used to at uni -

It's specifically for an artist / art director kinda vibe (winter day / night / heavy) so it might smell good on pretty boys and I think you might like it.

Valentino Uomo Intense

Yeah just get a few decants
I like rotating stuff and have specifics for day / night, winter / summer, night out / work / gym etc.

Even though I don't like the powdery vibe, your recos might hit right for some occasions so appreciate it.

Fragrance should be nowhere near the top of the lookmaxx list.No cologne can replicate Björn Andrésen's facial harmony and even a Down-syndrome dumbass knows how to spray perfume onto himself which means the entry barrier is fucking zero.Valueable thread regardless.

Margiela - By the fireplace is great for a prettyboy look, especially a dark prettyboy one. Very sweet, has a bit of peppery undertones. Smells like roasting marshmallows.

what about sacred wood by kylian?
nice thread!

Do you think Chanel allure homme sport eau extreme can work for a prettyboy? Starts with fresh mandarin and the transitions into creamy tonka

Irrelevant thread : a good fragrance varies from one individual to the other. You might like the smell of a perfume but it may smell different once your spray it on your skin.

Guerlain Songe d'un Bois d'Ete

I've been wearing Voleur de Roses by L'Artisan Parfumeur.
Smells like a rose garden after a thunderstorm, I think it fits the bill.

Although, I am thinking they changed the recipe or are selling old bottles since the last one I bought wasn't as intense as I remember.

Good thread by the way

Most of their fragrances in the newer style of bottles are known to be shittier than the older style bottles. I really like their Premier Figuier and I used to like Mechant Loup a lot but I started to get sick of it.

Damn that is a shame. Any idea on how to get my hands on the original, high quality bottles?

ebay, mercari, facebook marketplace, etc

you can make a saved search on ebay that will alert you when one is listed. the ones up now are overpriced so if you want to get a good deal you'll probably have to wait til one comes up for auction rather than buy it now. the fact that people are charging so much for the vintage ones does suggest it was reformulated

I use what my mom got me on Christmas idk brah

Not a anecdote but I feel fragrances have more do with distinguishing you than the smell itself.

One spritz of something decent cheap and uncommon should be adequate.

It's not like you want to smell loud, just distinct. It's not like they can distinguish quality, just get something that smells good.
