Red light devices are expensive and are limited since they target just one wavelength, that is if the manufacture is to be trusted
If you buy some cheap shit more often than not you will be getting like ~635nm it should be what a normal RGB LED emits

Nothing will beat solar light in terms results, use sunscreen and go out in the sun
If you are pale give your body some weeks of progressively increased exposure

Incandescent light is the second best option and you should have a few in your house/room
Since they emit a lot of heat I would not use them in the summer, in the winter they heat your room so it's a good feature
Most will be 100W and less perhaps for safety reasons, more power more intensity, lumens and heat
Leds are good because they are efficient, they emit almost no heat, and last longer, otherwise they are inferior

Also, this is a perfect motivation for you to go out more and stop rotting on your room

Never heard of it, vitamin D levels are associated with longevity
It definitely doesn't extend human lifespan unless you compare it with extreme exposure

LD = 12 hour light 12 hour dark
DD = constant dark
pulse = 1 hour light twice daily rest dark

Flies probably slow down their metabolism, they don't fly in the dark for the most part
What's the hypothesis presented by the authors?

How do we take in the rays if we wear sunscreen?

u would think , but they said the dark didnt affect movement or food intake (actually males ate a bit more)

but they tested for this only short term . not throughout the entire study

Doubt it, a simple google search indicates they don't fly or fly erratically
From the graph it also looks like blue light shortened their lifespan significantly if anything blocking blue light could have more implications and is more interesting to understand why that is the case

There is probably some research on humans even if not directly or maybe in mammal models
But it seems to be the case

Am I right in thinking sunscreen primarily blocks shorter wavelengths, is there any data what wavelengths it blocks?

Yes and zinc oxide seems to be one of the best options out there

Is there anything that blocks wavelengths into the 400nms? So that you can avoid that blue light crap
To my surprise there are some
They are called HEV (high energy visible) blue light sunscreens
1717068533760

Although you are trusting the manufacture unless you dig into the ingredients
Most sunscreens will drop protection at around 400nm

And you are right to ask since HEV causes damage too
1717069324032
1717070252162

One way is to use warm lights inside your house, it reduces the HEV produced from lamps
You can buy a good blue light blocker glasses to use at night
And reduce prolonged exposure in peak sun

But you shouldn't run from light too, there are devices used as blue light therapy
It has benefits too

I would say a good sunscreen with sp50+ and pa+++ protection is already good, with hev protection great
Something that most people don't know is that you need to reapply sunscreen before and after some time, every hour in peak exposure may be ideal
1717071792283
1717071831377

But perhaps more important is a sunscreen or some formulation with an antioxidant like vitamin E or in this case Licochalcone A
1717071148109
1717073657868

It greatly reduces ROS formation in the VIS spectrum, sunscreen offers no protection from HEV (right pic above)
So certain antioxidants can be used as HEV protection

Speaking of red light i have it on my balls rn thoughts?

About to put it on my face too

Probably some benefits if you have something that actually works
But mogged by ball tanning

Yeah probably

My skin quality there is noticeably better, less wrinkly and one billion percent less dark and discolored

I think this is the ultimate thing to reverse long years of masterbation
