not trying to debate whether we have free will or don't, but I think it's the best mindset to believe it exists even if it doesn't. If you actually believe free will doesn't exist, you'll just end up a bed ridden nihilistic

The higher your intelligence the more free will you have as you are less impulsive (more inhibited and thoughtful) and not as much of a slave to fate and emotions which when they rule us, make us predictable animals
