well, where do i begin?

it started when i got an ipad for my birthday.

i became an ipad kid, watching youtube videos, eventually coming across this game, minecraft, they call it

i watched many minecraft videos from rollercoaster builds to hunger games to how much tnt can i explode until my computer explodes

i really wanted this game u see, i really wanted to build a rollercoaster

and so i convinced my papa to buy me a laptop, a cheap, shitty, gaming laptop

and so i played minecraft, i built rollercoasters, but i wanted more u see

that's when i found out about multiplayer

i joined many servers until discovering factions

this is where things really took a turn for the worse

u see, i met my first long term internet friends on one of these faction servers

me and a guy from boston or something were in a faction together, and would pvp and raid other factions, it was fun.

one day we join a server and stumble across another faction who really have their shit on lock, they clearly knew what they were doing.

we convinced this faction to let us join them, with our initial plan to inside raid them

but then we grew genuine friendships, and from there i played factions pvp servers with these gentlemen for years

that was my life now. minecraft pvp, factions, build base

build a base? no i dont mean a little obsidian shitbox.

i mean a 20x20 chunk fully protected perimeter, bedrock to skylimit

do u have any idea the dedication it takes to defend such a base encapsulating ur loot?

loot mostly being expensive mob spawners capable of mass farming things u can sell on the server's marketplace to then buy even more expensive spawners
more expensive spawners in ur claimed territory = higher faction worth, that's the ultimate goal u see, to be the wealthiest and most powerful on the server, to earn $ at the end of the map (usually a couple hundred to a couple thousand dollars depending on the server)

this was no longer a game, this was a group of 13-15 year olds defending a small scale country.

we had shifts u see, europeans on at this time, americans to cover when they go to sleep, alarms, schedules.

i worked like a slave u see, mining, mining, mining. i had likely mined hundreds of millions of blocks over this period of time because u see to build a base u need a fully fledged bedrock to skyrim monstrosity, with the entire 20x20 chunks secured with walls

walls explode easily with tnt

but obsidian is much stronger, so i'll build a base with obsidian walls!

u see, simple tnt cannons had advanced quickly over time.

so u now had tnt cannons capable of sending multiple tnt at a time and meticulously calculated to explode all at once using redstone timing.

u see, now we had geniuses enter this "game"

tnt doesnt work so well with water u see, so people decided to build bases with obsidian walls covered in water

u see, but people are smart, so they developed sand cannons.

sand + tnt = exploits water

long story short, the game advanced very quickly and cannons, bases, pvp skills, cheats all did at the same time until it basically became a full time job to avoid getting raided
