I respect an atheist that is aware that Christianity is what upheld society before it's decline. I'm yet to come to a conclusion on the existence of God, but I sure as hell cannot disapprove of the fact without Christianity, we live a life of hedonism and filth. One cannot argue that morality is objective if they don't believe in god, in a godless life morality is completely subjective, in a godless life I'll do everything I possibly can to obtain pleasure, thus morality is subjective.

I was an agnostic-atheist till 17 myself until i converted, I am still 17. I had an extremely frightening OBE/dream about hell & God out of a sudden last month. Since then i've been praying. But that isn't just my only reason for being a Christian. I did some rational research about it too in terms of philosophical arguments and New Testament scripture evidence by both atheist and biblical scholars form a non biased view for evidence. which spanned almost around a years time. This was just my experience, man. You should ask your mother for guidance and insight about this. Hope you seek & find the Lord too.
