I just dropped almost a 1k for it when you account for shipping costs, taxes etc. And now that I have it it turns out that I can't fucking use it because you need to create/log in to your oculus account ON YOUR PHONE. And if your phone isn't recent as in has at least Android 5 (mine is years old because I'm not a consumer zombie who always needs the latest and greatest) then you can't download it.
My 1 thousand dollar fancy VR headset is now literally a paperweight unless I go buy some other completely unrelated expensive device, and presumably for no reason other than because facebook wants to steal all the information in my phone. Or at least that's why I'm assuming they are doing this.
Imagine buying a PS4 or Xbox and not being able to use it because you don't have the latest phone jfl.
