I've seen way too many people here denying genetics or claiming eugenics can't work because of environment or it being improbable. I guess people will always find a way to cope with being genetic trash.

Take height for example. People always say nutrition proves environment matters. Sure, populations got taller with better food over generations, but within the same well-nourished country today, individual differences are almost entirely genetic.

Twin studies put heritability at around 80% in adults, this however does NOT mean you could have been 20% taller, or that 20% of height is environmental. This common cope is often reiterated on this site, even though the 80% value explains the height difference between individuals.

We can observe similar patterns with intelligence. Twin studies show heritability up to 80%.

Now people will say eugenics don't work because most traits are polygenic (meaning thousands of genes determine height, IQ, personality etc.).
But that's simply not true. Polygenic scores already allow embryo screening gains for height, IQ , disease risk and more. It's a hindrance, but will not stop us. Just think of how AI will improve embryo screening in the future.

Even modest changes shift population averages in a few generations. Genetics account for the vast majority of differences in height, looks, IQ, and mental disorders. Denying it is cope. Positive eugenics reduces suffering and creates better people, while negative eugenics are more unlikely to be implemented anytime soon.

@Jason Voorhees argued eugenics isn't viable, saying genotypes and alleles are too unpredictable, that you can't isolate environment, height would be depending on environment, scientists need many of generations like in mice, and logistics make it impossible.

Human Geneotypes and alleles are extremely unpredictable and it's impossible to isolate all environmental variables. You can somewhat select for phenotype and maybe height and height still depends on environment.

Scientists have to go through dozens of generations of mice until they find someone with the desirable traits and mice have 10x more kids than humans. Eugenics for humans is mostly a failed concept. Selective breeding does works but it takes thousands of years, multiple generations and it doesn't always go according to how you've planned. The logistics of it alone doesn't make it work.

That's mostly wrong.

- Unpredictability is not going to be a problem for much longer, polygenic scores already work for selection.

- You don't need to isolate every environmental variable. The impact of genetics is well established.

- Mice breed faster and cannot be compared to Humans. Huge differences in traits like height and lactose tolerance have been observed in human populations, even without human selection. Just think about it.

Genetics are EVERYTHING.

So why have we not implemented eugenics in every country on this planet yet, you may ask? Well (((they))) only look after themselves.

Not a single molecule

Genetics can't predict anything so they came out with mutations and other shit that help with it not being true + it's just theory created by (((them)))
