I’ve been using GHK-Cu for about six months now, and since I talk about it openly to my audience of 40k on Instagram, I get this question constantly: “Will this clear my acne?” I’ve also seen people on TikTok claiming it completely cured their hormonal acne, which is why I want to clear this up properly.

There’s a big difference between something that improves the appearance of skin and something that actually treats acne at its root. GHK-Cu is mainly known for its role in skin regeneration and healing. It can help improve skin texture, support collagen production, and make scars look better over time — but that doesn’t mean it’s treating the cause of acne itself.

Acne is driven by things like excess oil production, clogged pores, bacteria, and hormones. GHK-Cu doesn’t meaningfully target those mechanisms. So while your skin might look healthier overall, it’s not going to stop breakouts from forming in the first place.

Accutane is different because it directly addresses the core drivers of acne, especially oil production and inflammation. That’s why it’s still considered the most effective option for severe or persistent acne — it’s actually treating the condition, not just improving the skin’s appearance.

GHK isn’t meant to be an acne treatment. Where it can be helpful is in improving post-acne damage, like red marks and scars, particularly if those scars are relatively recent (under about two years old).
