It s not even a debate.
The problem is that to have a good stubble you need good beard genes.
And the guys who have good beard genes prefer to grow a full beard, go full Jihad mode. Which instead backfires if the guys have good lower thirds(now hidden by beards) but under par eye area.

Good eye areas are a lot rarer than good lower thirds imho. Only thing that makes this not obvious is the high bodyfat most men are at.
