Needs to be compatible with everything, some new graphics cards will work, some wont. There are sites where you can plug in all your PC parts and see if they will work together, and it will tell you what kind of architecture you would need and whats compatible or not and all that

Yeah, only like ancient motherboards won't work (like early 2k)
I built my first pc also almost 6 years ago but a while ago I upgraded my gpu to a 1070ti so you should be good I think


But you should def just upgrade your ram, cpu, and mobo too, in many games cpu is actually more important

That's a pretty weak CPU, that will hold back a new graphics card. It was cheap for its time however and it had a decent integrated graphics chip.
