The shade of your teeth can impact contrast much more than you think. This guide will take you from A3 (average adult yellow) to BL2 (photo-tier white) safely, quickly, and without the risk of nuking your enamel or melting your gums, unlike most of the other autistic whitening guides I've seen here.

Scrubbing off stains from your enamel will not whiten your teeth, since your enamel is translucent. Regardless of how much or how hard you scrub, your teeth will look yellow if your dentin is yellow. Therefore, you must oxidize pigmented molecules in the underlying dentin (a process called chromogens). To do this, we will use hydrogen peroxide (H₂O₂) and carbamide peroxide. Proper preparation matters, so a 3 step process will be used in order to whiten safely and effectively.

This step is mandatory, no matter how clean you may think your teeth are, skipping this phase will lead to patchy whitening, increased sensitivity, and duller results overall.
For those of you with sensitive gums, I once was in the same boat. My gums were so sensitive they used to bleed when I brushed. Because of this stage, the peroxide did not burn my gums nor teeth, and my results were even.
What to Do:
- Brush 2x/day with Sensodyne Pronamel (potassium nitrate reduces nerve sensitivity)
- Remove subgingival plaque thoroughly with a Water Flosser (Cannot whiten through plaque)
- ACT Alcohol-Free Fluoride Rinse nightly (remineralization)
- No staining foods/White diet (no staining foods, ex. coffee, tea, wine, soda, fruits/berries, chocolate, candy, etc. pretty self-explanatory)
- Length of this phase may vary based on gum sensitivity
PHASE 2: WHITENING (DAYS 8–21) - DENTIN BLEACHING
Option A: Opalescence Tray Protocol- Use Opalescence PF 15% or 20% in custom dental trays
- Apply Vaseline to gumline for protection
- Wear trays for 45–60 minutes daily
- After removal, apply MI Paste Plus or use Sensodyne
- Avoid all staining foods/drinks during this period

Why it's important:
- Enamel is porous after bleaching and can reabsorb pigments prematurely
- Re-memorization continues to extend shade longevity
- Colgate Optic White Pro Series 2x/week time
- Daily paste: Sensodyne Pronamel or Colgate Total Clean Mint
- Night rinse: ACT Fluoride Rinse
- MI Paste Plus once a week
- Touch-Up Trays for 1–2 days every 4–6 months
