This applies to 99% of jobs. There are exceptions but I won't go into that right now.
Work is something where you put in the least effort possible for the maximum amount of rewards. Effort meaning your time, energy, etc.
Take as many sick days off as possible. Use up all your holidays. If working Monday to Friday align them with weekends to have even more days off.
If you work somewhere where you are liable to be called in at odd hours or unexpectedly never pick up the phone or always say no. If you say yes and really need the hours try and squeeze more pay or other privileges. If saying no makes you look bad don't pick up. You can always say you're your grandma's carer. It's no one business.
Never, ever let yourself be seen as putting in more effort than everyone else. This is bad for three reasons. For one you it might be seen as trying to be better than your colleagues. Envy is a strong feeling and no one likes to be outdone. This way you might earn a bad reputation. If your reputation doesn't suffer then imagine what will happen if you cannot work at this level anymore. If you're consistently outperforming others, having average results, even if par with everyone else, will make it look as if you're doing worse than everyone else. Optics matter more than what is actually being done. If somehow neither of this happens you will be taken advantage by the lazy and selfish who will just pile more work on you.
Real, solid results matter a lot for promotions in many fields, but more often than not social graces, good networking and being liked will help you more. Be friends with everyone and be self aware. There is social hierarchy everywhere.
Don't care. Never. Even if you're going to become homeless next month if you get sacked don't give a shit. Stress is one of the worst things for your mental and physical health. Stress ages you worse than cigarettes and alcohol. There is nothing and I mean nothing worth stressing over at work. If it won't matter in five years then don't give a shit about it. I see too many people who stress over their work.
Likewise never do anything at work that might remotely endanger you. Exceptions could be made for professions like arborists but these professions are implicitly dangerous and the pay reflects this. I've met retardards who will blow their backs doing manual labour thinking it's macho. If you wreck your body no one will give a shit and you'll be fucked for life. Almost no money is worth that risk.
Don't ever feel guilty or like you owe something. Employers guilt trip and manipulate their employees all the time. They'll make you feel bad if you don't take overtime, don't do extra work and so on. If there's economic downturn, they will get rid of you ASAP if you're a liability. You'll be lucky to get notice depending on your country of residence or contract.
If someone is being a fool, be sure to exploit that. Give them your work load, let them take your blame or whatever that benefits you. While you might feel bad know that if you don't do it someone more unscrupulous will.
If you hate your job and your life sucks because of it quit immediately. You're killing yourself and wasting your life over some shit you couldn't give two fucks about. You can make money anytime in life but you can't get back lost time. Dignity and self respect are infinitely more valuable than safety and stable income.
