If you have long hair and dress like a pirate people will consider you a virtuso even if you are sloppy. Look at Yngwie for example. If he had sort hair and dressed like a normie, people would cal him a noob.
And its not just long hair, what guitar you play matters a lot too. If you use a custom made futuristic headless 8 string guitar people think you are a pro no atter what you play. On the other hand, if you play some cringy mid 80s Bc Rich warlock people will think you are a poser who wants to look metal and will not gicve a shit about your actual playing.
