5”11 130, i’m looking forward to going to planet fitness and start working out, i have no idea what im doing, any advice or tips?
 
get some cardio first, youre not going to be able to do anything if youre not in shape. if its your first time obv

Start off getting the form of each exercise down. Different types of routines will yield different results. There are strength training routines that focus more on getting you stronger on lifts & hypertrophy based routines which focus on giving you more muscle mass.

Focus on getting a nutritious diet with many calories each day. Your body won't grow if you don't eat enough food.

Start off getting the form of each exercise down. Different types of routines will yield differenr results. There are strength training routines that focus more on getting you stronger on lifts & hypertrophy based routines which focus on giving you more muscle mass.

I’ll do a combo of both, i enjoy swimming and climbing
thats perfect bro, literally combine both and thats what you really need, gymcelling its just extra stress

If you are completely out of shape start by just doing push ups, squats and pullups in your house for a couple of months and work up the amount of reps and sets over time. Maybe buy a set of dumbells or a kettlebell aswell so you can do one arm rows.

Tbh most people are so out of shape that you can get in better condition then most (nattys) just doing that. That was all I did when I was 14 before I started the gym and got way stronger than average just doing that.

gotta prioritize your diet for growth too make sure you're getting enough calories and protein in

bro legit if youre gonna do gym do it max once a week to to cardio, but u wouldn't even have to do that bc with swimming youre already working out your back and shoulders and ur shoulders a lot which is literally all that matters for ur presence, dont waste ur time gymcelling i did for a long time and its not worth it if you really want an aesthetic built do what im telling you

Well, that depends on your goals. I assume you just want to look good? I always favored a PPL style routine. This stands for Push, Pull, Legs. Monday = Push type of exercises e.g overhead press, bench press. Tuesday = Pulling type of exercises e.g rows, pull-ups. Legs = Leg exercises like squats & leg press.

Different routines do different amounts of sets & rep ranges. This is what determines if you'll gain strength or mainly just mass, when you're lifting. Lower rep ranges (e.g 3-5 reps) with higher weight, will give you more strength. Higher rep ranges (e.g 8-12 reps) with moderate amounts of weight will give you more hypertrophy e.g muscle mass, for the most part.

Obviously, it's a bit more nuanced than this. I encourage you to just try and soak up as much information as you can. Do a lot of research on forums, youtube, etc.

it’s honestly for my own good, i’m not using it to cope i just don’t like looking at myself and seeing a skinny malnourished boy

It will work trust me. Like I said it was all I did for the year before I started the gym. You work your weight and reps up and do it as a circuit so say 20 push ups, 20 squats,20 rows then you take a 10 min break.

As a beginner you dnt need some bshit bodybuilding split routine in the gym.
