Use clay on damp hair and just mess it up with your fingers.

They probably called you bush head because your hair was just a textureless clump, that doesn’t look good.

My hair is very thick but naturally lacks texture, people used to call me Lego hair lol

Degrades in what way? You don’t need silky smooth hair for messy styles, just use a texture clay and mess your hair up with fingers.
