Growing it long is probably more beneficial as it hides the back of the skull.
Still, with that kind of protrusion, I don't think any hair length will really camouflage it.

Its tough, long hair can make it look bigger at the back and getting a disconnected haircut and styling the top up can make your neck look small, so you need to train neck to reduce how prominent looking the occiput is

I have the exact same problem. I usually hide it by having a disconnected long part at the top and then short at the sides. Users are correct in saying that long hair helps hide it if it’s slight.
