Hairloss from accutane: Beyond recovery, what next?

I made a thread a month or so ago about hair systems. I tried it for a bit. Probably dropped like $1k in total on hair systems.

Definitely not the best decision I made but I don’t regret it, I tried it all, tape, glue, different hair systems, and now I know I don’t like it.

Felt like I was wearing a hat all the time. The glue is very messy and I did get as fast as I could with the maintence but it was still a BITCH AND A HALF to manage. Glue gets in the hair, I even fucking ripped a $400 hair system by accident just by pulling too hard. The hair is also dyed from factory and changes color real fast. It’s super hard to maintain. It also fucking peels off, it’s literally like a bandaid glued to your head.

I lost most of my hair from accutane. The entire top of my head mostly. Mild diffuse thinning. Not horrible yet, but it’s noticeable.

I’m hopping off accutane right now. I’ll probably continue to have hairloss for the next year or two. It might even get to the point of just shave it.

My goals: regain hair if possible. Shedding will not stop for a long time, possibly try and revive very raped hair in the future.

I have diffuse thinning. Is a hair transplant possible for this?

I am currently on dutasteride, RU58841, and 15% minoxidil topical with .1% tretinoin. This would be a nuclear stack but accutane is notorious for raping your hair and it’s not DHT related. I don’t expect my hair to regrow or stop losing for a long time. I just hope to surgically revive what I’ve lost potentially.

Anyone done SMP or hair transplant for diffuse thinning? Fucking thanks! Balding is incredibly gay.

I put minoxidil on my face but I’m a poor responder to minoxidil. And I’ve been on 5AR inhibitors for a long time but still lost hair. I can’t grow a beard but I lift.

Definitely do NOT lose your hair if you can help it. It’s just done for you if you do. I’m currently roadkill and probably have 0 appeal. A lot of men will find themselves in my situation, though, because sometimes the medications aren’t strong enough or you hop on too late or you have side effects. There’s just a ton of reasons why it’s done.

You’re lucky dude. Many people lose hair from accutane and most don’t recover. It’s very common.

It works dude but eventually I couldn’t stand it. It looked good believe me but it’s absolute madness to deal with. It’s a huge chore trust me. It’s literally a bandaid on your head with hair coming out of it. Just imagine trying to keep a bandaid secured in the perfect place at all times. Eventually it’s going to start peeling or something and then your hair peels off. That’s the issue with it.

I don’t regret it because it was a lesson learned. I’ll never second guess my decision now to either get a hair transplant or shave my head: because I tried the hair system and didn’t like it.

Accutane is a shit drug but it’s the only thing that WILL work for acne 100% of the time.

The side effects are terrible but so was my acne. My acne was incurable. I might still get acne as I hop off. I might be forced to either go bald or have acne. If that’s the case I’ll choose balding because acne is worse, trust me, I have both.

Guessing it's because of the high decrease in DHT. I even got suicidal when i was on it. Turned me into a complete fucking nutcase.

Now even 1+ years off it, im still experiencing the long lasting side effects from it.

After how much information is on the internet regarding the damage from accutane, just look at fucking studies. Honestly insane what it does to your body. And still people go on it jfl. Only time i would consider accutane is if your whole body is filled with untreatable acne which makes you not look human.

It raped my hair though. Really really descended me. I know how you felt like shit on accutane when I first started it I had horrible brain fog at high doses. I couldn’t even think straight. It must be more than just a 5AR inhibitor that has those mental side effects. I literally function just fine on dutasteride but on accutane at high doses I’m a zombie trust me.

At least we are still here dude. And you can optimize your test levels and i can maybe get a hair transplant and hopefully both of us can forget about this fucking drug. At least it didn’t kill us.

Oral castor oil, min, dermastamp, mk677, try everything you can for regrowth. Also obviously fin/dut. Accutane hair loss is fucked but you should stop shedding in 6 months to a year which is fucking brutal but atleast you look good with a buzzcut

I don’t look good with a buzzcut unfortunately. I look “ok” at best. I have tried oral castor oil, im on min, I have mk677 on hand, I have a dr pen microneedling pen I’ll start using it again.

I hopped off accutane 2 years ago and the shedding basically continued for like 1.5 years+

that’s how i know it won’t stop. but my acne came back. it’s just brutal. I’ll do what I can and try and hop off accutane but we will see. Probably need SMP or a hair transplant.

You could try a testosterone cycle, which i did, thats how desperate i was. I was literally at 135lbs lmao. I got hair all over my body from just 250mg test e. But it wasn't worth it in my case as it made my symptoms worse and i got facial bloating from it. I would rather try to do my best at treating my symptoms naturally. Now when i am off, all my hair, which i got on my nipples and chest, stomach area is disappearing lmao

Even if your testosterone levels on paper are normal, your androgen receptors could potentially be really weak.

I can't imagine how you feel after being on both accutane,fin and dut.

I as well got shitty brain fog when i went on accutane, felt like i lost 30 iq. All my grades went down aswell. I just could not remember a single thing.

Also still experience really dry, rough looking skin. It's like my collagen got completely raped from it. It's slightly getting better month by month. But still, nowhere close to the glow my skin had before accutane.

I think I respond pretty normal. Blew up with water. Hairloss super fast. Became hyper focused and aggressive. I walked around like an angry monkey staring everyone down and all I cared about was respect.

I am not a good guy or a bad guy. I’m not always strong im sometimes weak. But I do know how to talk to other men, I know you don’t want to read crying dog bullshit so I’m not going to sit here and cry to you. I know my place in the world and how it works. I act accordingly. Im not a good man or a respectable man. I am smart though, sometimes.

Accutane tends to accelerate whatever hairloss you genetically have. All the men in my family are bald. So I actually was shedding from accutane and miniaturizing at the same time. That’s why. I can’t stop the shedding but I can do my best to stop the miniaturizing.

My hair will continue to shed but if I’m doing my best to protect it from androgens in theory it will just regrow somewhat normal. But probably still a huge hit to it. I don’t expect regrowth. I do expect it to get worse. I want to surgically correct it.

Ah well in that case you're pretty much on a nuclear stack already bro. Dut and RU should be absolutely annihilating your DHT. If you aren't a good responder to min even with tret you should try microneedling 1.5 mm once a week too. Try to at least halt the loss if you can't get regrowth before you get a HT.

It is receding unfortunately. It’s like nw1.5 but then diffuse thinning on top as well.

Im currently rocking the buzzcut. I just don’t have any appeal that’s the issue. I actually COULD (with difficulty) get girls when I had hair that wasn’t totally decimated.

I think like 3 months old? My hair is rapidly shedding im growing it out but I have no idea if it will look that thick again. I literally have no clue. I might literally be at the end of the game right now in terms of hairloss where I’m past the point of no return. I do not know.

Natty at the moment, biggest i got to was 222 lb, 6'4.

Im not really that big. You can be a lot bigger but I have the hairloss gene and don't want to blast and it's the eating that gets you big not the steroids. I don't want to be a bag of milk which is required to really put on size.
