I always look away towards the side, neither upwards or downwards, when locking eyes with someone, regardless of how they feel towards me. It's neutral. If I want to show dominance I'll do it through other behaviors. It's not good to give up the bag like that through looks or facial expressions. Not good to let anyone, friend or foe, know how you feel about them through body language.
