I’ve been there. There is very low crime but it is very different than the usa. The drinking culture is big. If you plan on actually moving there, I would advise against. Unless you are ethically japanese you are a second class citizen. They have establishments that do not allow foreigners in, which is legal there. Also there are no public trash cans which is weird.

I have never been, but one of my friends has gone there a couple of times. It’s been a while since I’ve last spoken to him.
