one of my backup old school hard drivers has stopped showing up on my computer... when I turn my PC on I hear an interment clicking/beeping for a few seconds then it stops.

is it over for my data?

boomer problems be like

Yes, but I took to a friend that fixed it, you need to know someone with expertise or interest in that area.

The data is all still there but the device that reads the data has failed, I dont know anything about it but there is a magnetic/electric thing that reads the data on the platters and that is a common fail point for hard drives. You can get the data off of it if you take it to someone who knows what they are doing, but the hard drive is done for and it will never read or write again unless someone fixes it

Bring a strong magnet near the hard drive. That'll fix it
