Even most measuring tapes can have rediculous error. Stadiometer is the most accurate based on a research

Yes it varies a good amount. Depends on you torso length. Most people shrink about 1.6-1.8 cm( around 0.75").

That's crazy, never heard of such thing. But 1-2cm it pretty irrelevant to me. I guess if you're exactly 180cm tall it can be problematic.
