I was able to come out fine by limiting their influence over me and seeking out positive relationships with like-minded people. I was a brutal shut in for roughly 6 years though. As in legitimately only going outside to buy groceries for myself, and spending the rest of my day playing video games, which amounted to roughly 60-100 hours per 7-day-week, depending on school/university workload at the time.

I was able to come out fine by limiting their influence over me and seeking out positive relationships with like-minded people. I was a brutal shut in for roughly 6 years though.
