I weight 176 lbs (80kg) and I’m 6.3 (190 cm).
I just bought a 1000 tablets of 10 mg accutane. I have mid-low acne but really oily skin.
I also play volleyball at a somehow competitive level, so i don’t wanna have much side effects.
How should I dose my accutane daily?

I just started it and my derm gave me 5mg of isotretinoin (dercutane) (maybe because i didn’t have any recent blood analysis), was wondering if she highers my dose (after my next appointment with my blood analysis) will it give me purge phase

Love u pharmaphag but this is bad advice, just refer him to the accutane thread
A general range of doses does nothing for him, 20 is appropriate for thw situation hes describing,

But if he makes the mistake of hopping off early (maybe a month or 2 after being clear) he probably wouldn't have reached the dosing protocol for the full efficacy of accutane. Which is a problem a lot of people make then they say "accutane sucks!!" when they get acne again

Oh at least you're familiar with it lol honestly I'd run 40mg I think everyone whos using accutane should be on 20, I don't really know why anyone would run 20mg unless they're scared of it:owo:40 mg is like a medium dose

Not really, that's just a potential side effect as is the same with a lot of drugs. the most common side effect would be the dryness of skin (which is literally the main mechanism of action of isotretinoin)

Great, i didn’t know it was a rare side effect, I’m probably starting with 40 mg and adjusting the dose based on the side effects

Yeah, sounds good. Also I wasn't particularly saying it's a "rare" side effect more so that it's just not a common one. This side effect is probably likely to happen if you aren't healthy or drink water a lot as water obviously lubricates joints. Accutane can attack the cartilage cells in joints (which causes the joint paint) so it's probably best to make sure you're fairly active and drink a good amount of water.

When you get accutane from a derm they'll prescribe 10mg/10kg of bw so for me it weigh around 68kg (I think thats the conversion) or 139lbs and my prescribed accutane dose is 60mg daily, a 30mg pill twice daily with 20g of fat for optimal absorption. If youre doing it at home id start with a lower dose to see how your body reacts, as well as getting your bloodwork done pre starting accutane and then again after a month: CBCs, LFTs, Triglycerides, and Cholesterol, and if you're work comes back as stable or subtle change you can stay on, but if theres significant change, you gotta come off or lower your dose because that means your liver can handle your dose. I have a recent thread on my personal 1 month with some information that might help you know what to expect as you go on. Godspeed brethren.

for low to mid acne i recommend 20-30mgs. more is usually unnecessary if ur not completely acne ridden and for 20-30 the side are extremely manageable

100% agree, thats why I said he should start lower, along with the at home reasoning, I probably should've stated that, but you're right. At 80kg for low/mid I'd say 40mg is a good starting place to mostly measure his bodies reactivity, as well as generally speeding up the time till he's able to reach his full final dosage because we all wanna reach our goals in the most efficient and timely manner. I think 20mg might be too low for significant results until a much later date, unless its a smaller person. Loads of celebrities will microdose accutane in the sub 20mg dosage as it's little to no side effects but most of them already have clear enough skin and are running it for maintenance.
way to much
As for this idk if you're talking about my personal dosing, if so like I said this is what my liscensed dermatologist put me on for dosing, and if you're talking about what I said fir regular dosing, I've done extensive research into accutane because I was extremely fear mongered of it prior to getting on myself, and the 1mg/1kg is what all dermatologists use as a start dose and adjust from there based on an individuals body's response. It may be too much for less severe acne but even myself my facial acne wasn't deserving of accutane itself, only got her to prescribe for my persistent body acne and both my face and body have cleared up extremely well so far at the standard dose.

look up a chart that accounts for bodyweight and age
