Is it safe to do weight lifting while water fasting? I imagine it would help to preserve muscle during the fast but I am not sure

The exact opposite. Working out destroys your muscle, eating protein after heals them and causes them to grow.

If you workout without protein, you won’t gain any muscle

Why do u need water fasting
Instead of water fasting try air fasting

It depends. If you are skinny then working out while fasting is the most retarded stupid ass shit you can do. However, if you are overweight or obese then (as long as you get enough protein) its actually a pretty good idea.

Why fasting and lifiting at the same time (unless it’s for ramadan) ?

You fast because you’re dumb and impatient but at the same time you want to gain/maintain muscle which requires calories and high protein intake.

I'm currently overweight and my plan is to switch between water fast and keto so I can get enough protein to rebuild my muscles

By water fasting I meant drinking ONLY water and not eating anything, not drinking water would be dry fasting and I'm not insane enough to do that

i would like to know. Theres deff benefits. Our ancestrals exercised BEFORE they get the food, not after like we do today. Every single one. If you see the bronze era lifters they would wake up exercise and then eat a very big proteic breakfast.
 
But when i tried i almos passed out. I guess you need to get used to it.
