Muscular hypertrophy training is different from strength training. If you are training for punching power, you would be doing barbell hip thrusts for 5 sets of 5 reps max. Which means you'd be putting a significant number of plates on the barbell. As its actually your gluteus maximus that generates the most power in a KO punch, not your biceps or triceps. The glutes are the second largest muscle group behind only quads.

A lot of people say do squats for glutes. But when I do barbell back squats, I feel it all in my quads anyways. When I modify my foot placement on the hack squat machine, I can target the glutes more. But it's not a true replacement for barbell hip thrusts. I treat hack squats as a quad exercise. Bulgarian split squats with a lean forward stance might be sufficient for targeting glutes though. My balance sucks so I don't like doing Bulgarian split squats.
