Well I've had this problem. As a foreigner or sort of dunno... I've used those words in a "teasing, chill way". So when I'm calling someone fag or even myself chances are that I actually might like the person's behaviour. Same for nigga. However I would never say this someone I dont know but sometimes it's like I even forget those words have any negative connotation altogether.

I understood that just because I don't mean harm, other people don't necessarily see it the same way. I must be honest and say that it's two worlds. Where I've been, it's used cool and friendly. Where they have been, it's insulting. So I can see their point. If I were to really mean to offend someone I'd say they have their right to get mad. But they don't know this. They belong to their own world and experiences.

So... it's best to mask and work with smth else that's acceptable. You don't want to be involved in drama for no reason when u didn't mean to.
