You can get drunk for almost free if you just brew it yourself. Back in high school for a party I made 20 litres of apple cider at 9% ABV for $5. I just went to a nice old lady in my neighbourhood who has apple trees, and she let me pick as much as I wanted. All I paid for was regular bakers yeast (couldn't get my hands on better yeast cause I was too young) and sugar.
