One is because of actual mental illness. (Gender dysphoria) and the other is because of negative reinforcement and horrible treatment from society because of lookism,heightism,racism,etc. surgeymaxxers aren’t mentally ill for the most part, they’re trying to stop themselves from becoming mentally ill and actually going insane. The human mind can only take so much negative reinforcement so long before it leads to an ER incident.

Gender identity disorder is caused by nurture, not nature. 60% of LGBT people have been groomed/touched as kids. Body dysmorphia is also nurture because of a lack of positive feedback loops which lead to people developing healthy social skills and relationships
