How can you hold eye contact?

I’m introvert so start getting more social lately

what eye contact is supposed to mean? Do I look into their eyes directly? I always feel weird doing like I can’t focus while staring into thier eyes it feels unnatural, and are you supposed to hold eye contact all the time during conversations?
