YouTube doesn’t pay off of views alone

CPM (money per 1K views) is based off of genre, watch time, so on. Someone who makes long videos (and his viewers watch them fully) in a good genre (Advertisers pay based off of what demographic is most likely to respond to the ads. Rich boomer audience vs kids for example) will make more than someone who makes short videos in a bad genre even if he has half as many views. There are many gaming YouTubers who have a million+ subscribers but mediocre salaries because of this.
