How distant should you be with your relationship partner?

I know that clinginess is unattractive, so I try to not be like that. Usually me and my partner talk a little bit (around an hour max) like everyday and maybe on Friday and/or Saturday we go on a date. Ngl I kinda miss them when they're not with me, but ik that I have to control that emotion and not message them or annoy them whenever I feel that way.
Curious about how other ppl deal with this. Do u even try to not be clingy?
