How do I achieve this textured look on hair and keep it from drying out?

Similar hair texture after applying Salt, the only issue is my hair becomes very dry and become to fluffy. Would a product like this prevent this? I have used no shampoo for about 1 and 1/2 years but would a conditioner or moisturizing product help? I ordered this moisturizer and hopefully it helps.

I have this hair length and texture. I tried products for years. Eventually stopped shampooing everyday (do it like once a month now). Wash well with warm water everyday (not to warm dries ur hair out) but dont shampoo tht often and ur natural texture shows better plus ur hair develops more natural hold.
