How do I avoid looking tryhard?

I feel like whenever I try to do any softmaxxing or wear different clothes I come across as a tryhard or I at least feel like one. Today I wore all black and tight fitting shirt for body halo and it looked good but I just felt like I was trying too much. Basically how do I make it look and feel effortless like I'm not trying my hardest to look good.

don't dress too hard and elegantly you'll just look like a tryharder idiot, only the face counts... then the clothes won't even fit you well if you're short
