How do I navigate tall men being complimented in front of me as a short man?

Hi All,

27M 5ft6 virgin here.

To make it worse, I am extroverted and on every dating. I have used “meetup” to attend 100+ events with strangers and also hosted a few (organisers trusted me to host as I was a regular). I have a regular 9-5 office job where I speak with women and men every day in a professional capacity (not an incel) and go along my day as normal. I am a (skilled) migrant currently in the UK, originally from South Asia. I am of below average height in the UK, which means I am the shortest male in any social circle or workplace I go to.

In both professional spaces and social circles, I have come across this weird phenomenon where someone will compliment a random guy in front of me on how tall that guy is. Then you see the tall guy blush and melt. This has happened more than once. I just give an awkward smile in these situations and immediately walk away from that environment.

Just to put this in context, have you ever been complimented on your short height, “you are so short!”, replace the word tall to short and this becomes an insult. May be I am jealous I don’t know.

What makes it worse for me I guess is I have never been complimented on my looks in my entire life. I have been complimented about my academic and professional achievements but if you were to separate my objective achievements from me, I as a person do not count. While the tall guy is validated for who he is, regardless of his achievements, purely because of his height, which is an intrinsic quality of his. I have never been validated for just existing and inhaling oxygen but tall men do.

I don’t know may be I am becoming miserable and salty but I’d like to know how to navigate these situations.

Why compliment a tall man when a short man is literally infront of you? I wouldn’t compliment about someone’s fancy jacket in front of a homeless person, for example, it’s like common sense and basic human decency to me idk.

Any advice?

Maybe a ‘Hey! I’m right here!’ with a smile might show you have a sense of humour and take life a little less seriously.

I don't treat my manlet coworkers with respect. I don't even do it on purpose I just realize that I subconsciously think less of their character and their suggestions vs everyone else after someone pointed that out to me.

Just wear lifts bro. You need to grow hair also and take lycopene for red undertones and you’ll be a mogger

People often stereotype the “napoleon complex” the idea that short men are more physically and socially angsty or aggressive due to their height. But almost every analysis finds that tall men are far more likely to be confrontational, it’s just that when short men do it it’s seen as out of place. So fucking brutal

Makes sense. As someone who is tall in a manlet country, I feel almost invincible walking out in public.

Size can help to a certain extent. My little brother is shorter than me but has a well trained body.

He is 6ft1 and I am 6ft3, but people often mistake us or even think that he os taller sometimes until we stand neck to neck.

Ofcourse, that's just a 2 inch difference but it does still help regardless.

Only advice is to splurge on LL and get tons of cosmetic surgeries which is not only risky, expensive as fuck and even worth LL idt an extra 6" is even viable, at this point you should just start looking for other people of the same ethnicity and if you have a good job and make tons of money talk to their parents (but since you live in the UK thats probably unlikely)

Average height in my country is 5"9 and I'm 6"0 (5"11) barefoot and seem average, in fact it's a struggle to find people shorter than myself to get an ego boost whilst there are virtually giants everywhere, sometimes I wonder if the stats are fake

If you're height is 50th percentile, then about 50 percent of men are taller than you

+

You also focus more on the people taller than you.

I wonder if I'm cooked tbh, I have a 195 cm brother who's only two years older than me whilst I'm only 180, the genetic lottery sucks, I wish I could at least grow by 5 more cm but I have no clue if that's possible, for reference I'm 17

The Norwood reaper is already after him whilst I have a perfect hairline, though I doubt it trumps height, it's surely something, I always hear stories about 18+ people suddenly growing taller and it gives me hope but they never go in depth about how and on this site all they do is tell you to take anabolics which hell no I ain doing

Do you personally know any legit methods of increasing height? Or am I doomed to cope, when I was 15-16 I used to say I'd be happy once I reach 6'0 and now it's nowhere near enough for me, sure it can be a ton worse but 6'0 isn't good either, life truly begins at 6'2+
