How do you even tell if the maxilla is recessed or flat?

also dont just say look at it. where do i look to know if a maxilla is forward grown or recessed?

Recessed Maxilla

Forward-Grown Maxilla.

Note that while the nasofrontal angles look very similar, the recessed foids nose looks larger. this is due to lack of bony support.

This also leads to a reduction in facial depth, as the mandible (and frontal bone to an extent) are set back.

Notice how even after the first girl got a rhinoplasty (which does mask recession quite well on foids only) She still lacks the mandibular length+ramus height (and in turn chin projection), Orbital support, and facial depth that Margot Robbie has.


You can practically tell how recessed someone is by looking at their features, after a while itll become automatic. The biggest tells are browridge, pronounced nasal depression and radix, lack of chin projection with a higher gonial angle, and lack of infraorbital support.

Of course what the person is lacking may vary, but these are all symptoms of maxillary recession.

Stick your tongue out and if your hyoid and the fat disappears then you have a recessed maxilla. Trust me it’s a foolproof way, and just look at your side profile and it’s obvious

When u stick ur tongue out u slightly jut which makes the jaw appear better and sticking ur tongue out works pretty much like mewing which makes the hyoid appear higher and the fat to "disappear"

You have good facial depth, and definitely aren’t recessed for your phenotype at all. Very developed.

In an ideal situation your nose and chin would project more but that is simply part of your phenotype expression I believe.
