How do you maintain proper sleeping patterns?

Such as going to sleep and getting up at a fixed time every day without messing it up (e.g. on the weekends)?

It‘s something I keep failing to do because my sleeping schedule always gets ruined eventually.
One longer than usual day due to appointments or other things is enough to totally wreck my sleeping routine. And then I‘ll end up staying up longer and going to sleep later which leads to getting up later as well.
Noisy, unemployed neighbors and zero noise insulation don‘t help either.

Use an alarm.

Set a proper bed time.

Finish all your work before that set time.

I just set an alarm to wake up the same time everyday no matter what time I fall asleep. This eventually got me to get on a pretty good schedule.
