How do you tell if you have a slanted or straight occlusal plane

I can’t tell but I had braces and I heard if ur downswung it makes it impossible to get upswing because your occlusal plane is already straightened? Anyone educated on this?

1. If there gummy smile than in most cases downward

2. If no gummy smile but still wondering than take a side profile pic smiling and check if teeth going down from molars to incisors or not

I still cannot tell, from the side it looks normal but I have a overbite so it might be an illusion, however I have a small palate and from the front you can’t really see my teeth when I smile, my top row covers around half of my lower teeth, can you give me some examples maybe?

As I know downward growth is usual with overbite. I was thinking how to check with a second method (side view pic) as in my case narrow mouth hiding teeth when smile in side view too. So I can’t tell for sure but mb you can clench something like sushi chopsticks on the left or right side by both lower and upper teeth and make a side photo so there gonna be either forward or more downward (disgonal) direction of the part of a stick that sticks out of mouth but I can’t tell for sure if it’s valid method.

It’s better to make a photo from distance (not a selfie) staying straight, in a real side profile (so second brow or browridge shouldn’t be seen) with camera staying straight (not angled left/right or down/up) and with some object you knew for sure is parallel to the floor so you could align image then (or even better to align with frankfurt plane)
