But another friend said that only works for certain types of people with a specific style. Honestly, I’ve found the best approach is to kind of roleplay as a neurotypical person: avoid saying anything offensive or controversial, and try to come off as normal-ish but still a little charming.

No why would that be weird? That's a normal and neutral way to text her, and everyone uses abbreviations.
