I'm specifically talking about dating, not hookups.
How does dating work? Does the girl know beforehand if she wants you? Does going on more than one date mean she wants you?
If I (the man) am the one initiating, it's pretty clear that I want her.
So I don't fully understand the dance of going on dates.
Do girls fall in love over the course of multiple dates once they get to know you better?
Do girls fall in love after they let you hit?
Are girls usually in love immediately and if they aren't from the get go, it's a futile endeavor?

Dating is a new concept that has barely existed for 60 years. Dating in the current form for even shorter than that. My confusion sounds stupid but is understandable if you think about it.

That's what Grok had to say. I think it's a bit better for social questions than chatgpt:

I think Grok and .org are both the best possible resources for this kind of information, one is a really intelligent unbiased AI, and the other is a good healthy site in general, i dont think girls fall in love after they let you hit, i dont think the sex is what makes them love you

So could you give your take instead?

Dating works when two people are attracted to each other and plan to live the rest of their lives together.

I agree with the gist of it but it's a bit reductive

In the real world? You find a girl you share mutual physical attraction to, and dates are to get to know each other. There is no commitment here, either can pull out at any time. After enough, which varies from person to person mostly by age, you decide that this is working well and you want to have a more proper arrangement here. You say 'I see a future with you. Here are some flowers, will you commit to a shared vision?'. She will say yes, and then you start doing things together that dont help you get to know each other but rather relax. Now you can propose to her at some point, get married, and live life.
