Reading sucks tbh. I don't know, it just sucks. I don't find it boring, I can tolerate any boring activity, but there's so many other things to do instead of reading.
In fact, I would rather stare at a wall like autists do, instead of reading a book.

That's completely normal for modern people. Too used to stimulating imagery from normal media to the point where you can't even read recreationally.

Many teens today struggle with that, especially those who spend an excessive amount of time on their phones or devices

I have no problems when reading, unlike my classmates.
But I don't know if it's just me, but any other activity is better imo, I unironically stare at the wall like an autist when there's nothing to do, I don't fear being judged for that, because it feels good, even that is better than reading.

It entirely depends on what you're reading. If you're reading shitposts here go for it. Try reading Kant at that speed and I guarantee you won't comprehend or retain anything.

yes but you can measure rwpm generally by the reading speeds in the same category

does wpm matter if you don't understand what you're reading, i take all mi time when reading to understand what the author is trying to say/conclude, but if it's fiction i understand ngl

rwpm is weighted by accuracy already

you can’t say that your wpm is something without comprehension

It's irrelevant then. Maybe if you're reading study materials or something like that but the faster you go the less you will retain. Reading shouldn't be like watching telly where you just absorb pictures (or words in this case), you need to actively think and process what you're reading. If you're reading fiction it's best to enjoy it properly. You wouldn't chug down a well prepared dish like you would 50c instant noodles jfl. If you're reading something dense like philosophy or whatever that requires a lot of thinking and analysis you won't be reading fast anyways. In the end it means nothing to be able to read fast. If you bragged about this to someone like Nabokov he'd rather shoot you than let you read his books lol.

why would u not care about reading wpm when everyone reads daily
The average person doesn't care about their WPM, nor I'd assume most of then would ever care to test it.

The only reason I do is because I have to read alot of agreements, contracts and emails for my job + constantly learn new production/safety standards
