Why does fasting(only drinking water and not eating for a couple of day) increase growth hormone?
We will first go through the steps on what happens when you don’t eat.
Day 1: You’ll probably feel intense hunger since the hunger hormone ghrelin is produced more than usual due to the human body not being used to not eating that like,you’ll feel cold since your body temperature drops due to no digestion of food.
Day 2: After day one,insulin production stops and the body has fully started to transform fat fuel into energy by turning fatty acids into glycogen.
Your body won’t crave any glucose and fructose that much anymore due to the human body finding a fuel source.
(This shouldn’t be done if you’re very skinny since you won’t have much fat to burn and you’ll loose muscle mass)
Day 3: your body is still having the same process of turning fat into energy,the only key difference is that you would have lost 1,5-1,8 pounds already and you’ll not feel much hunger anymore
Let’s skip into day 5
After day 5 your body has probably consumed all the fuel from the fat in your body and is starting to signal that it needs food.
Your brain triggers survival mechanisms,increasing hormones like growth hormones,testosterone etc because the brain wants to give you energy to get a food source by all means necessary.
Do not fast more than 3 days if you’re less than 10% body fat!
