I was looking through some of Clavicular's old threads and came across one where he was asking about getting lowballed on an ad for an AI app, inspiring me to make this thread on how my friends and I made ~120k borderline "scamming" retards online.
background:
My friends from high school and I went to the same college, was an Ivy but school name is fucking cope nowadays especially if you're studying some bullshit these foids study. We hated studying, hated school, saw the Umax founders print and decided to copy them, ended up building and scaling 4 apps in just under a year
all apps were vibecoded with Cursor. after the first app, we were shipping apps literally in 3-4 weeks max
App 1: AI Skin quality scanner & routine planner
> literally a gpt wrapper (API keys hardcoded JFL) that prompted chat to give ratings of a person's skin quality
> copied the name of a similar company in europe that didn't have an app -> all traffic came to ours and eventually grew to ~5k month with 0 advertising
> 99% of users were foids, these bitches are so brainless they literally buy anything, I charged like 10 bucks a week and to this day many of them haven't cancelled
App 2: Physique scanner
> same concept as the first one but for your physique, complete dogshit app
> this is the app we got @Clavicular to run a ad on around this time last year. Honestly crazy how far clav grew in just an year, was legit at 18k followers at the time (also the ad lowkey converted, i guess the avg org user is dumber than i thought)
> we actually tried to run this by hiring influencers, etc. but product was shit so we had no retention, shit cpa, shit ltv. users were mostly insecure gymcels who canceled after one scan
> got shut down because we fucked up the firebase backend and everyone could see each other's uploads
> revenue was good, profit not as much
App 3: Can't say the name
> the name of the app was extremely similar to a popular company that didn't have an app yet so people thought our app was the official one. but apple approved it so game is game
> Made us the most but got shut down almost within a week though.
App 4: Meeting note taking app
> basically a copy of existing apps like wave, fireflies
> great retention, great profitability since we were essentially a 3 person company that did everything 30+ employee companies were doing
Proof (highest month)
Doing this has opened so many doors for us. The two friends I worked with got into contact with a VC from a popular pre seed accelerator, dropped out, and recently raised their seed round for a new venture valued at low 8 figs. I got a summer tech internship without any interviews by building in public, and made so many connectoins with cracked people in tech/finance. I plan on applying to a pre-seed accelerator with some friends at Princeton and Stanford with a new venture.
I wanted to share because there are infinite ways of making money online. Lookism plays less of a role behind a screen and especially in tech, richest people are deformed & autistic in sf.
If anyone is building or wants to, I'm always open to giving advice as well.
