Looks matter, but they don’t carry you as far as people think. BP is real and they give you a huge boost. But if you're socially shut down or constantly overthinking, your looks don’t actually work for you.
I saw this really clearly with a friend of mine back in school
He was the definition of average-looking - nothing special at all. But he just didn’t care about how people judged him. He talked to anyone, had this relaxed vibe, and didn’t psych himself out. Because of that, he always had people around him. He was constantly invited everywhere, girls liked him, and later he ended up with a solid family life.
His life was basically proof that being socially free can outweigh being aesthetic if you are decent looking guy
I was the exact opposite for a long time
My overall SMV wasn’t bad at all,it was pretty high - but I had zero romantic experiences until around 17–18. Not because I was unattractive, but because I felt tense and awkward around people. I didn’t know how to relax socially, and it killed any momentum with girls I could’ve had
Everything shifted when I got into university
The first months were rough - new group, new environment, and I felt like I didn’t fit in at all. But slowly I learned talk more, and bring some value to conversations instead of just being silent in the corner
By the end of the first year i actually learnt how to talk to people and I felt like a completely different version of myself more confident, more grounded, more present. And the crazy part is how fast everything changed socially
people started inviting me to events, parties, birthdays, girls began approaching me to start conversations, I didn’t get rejected a single time when it came to anything romantic and I actually felt like I had a place in the social world instead of being on the outside
So yeah, looks matter a lot
But being socially functional multiplies your looks in a way that “improving your face” never will
Fixing my social side did more for my life than any aesthetic upgrade ever could
One of the fastest ways to become more socially comfortable is to observe people who are already good at it and copy the parts that fit you (maybe its the guy from your class or your family member, it does not really matter)
This isn’t fake it’s how humans naturally learn social behavior
What to pay attention to:
How they talk: relaxed tone, no rushing, no whispering.
How they react: they don’t panic when something awkward happens - they just smile or make a light comment.
Their body language: open posture, steady eye contact, slow movements instead of fidgeting.
Their vibe: they act like being around people is normal, not a performance or a test
Try adopting one of these traits at a time and socializing feel much easier and more natural
You don’t need to become an extrovert overnight - you just need tiny upgrades each day (hold eye contact for half a second longer. say “hi” first instead of waiting for others, talk to an old man in your grocery store)
In a few months, you’ll look back and realize you’re operating on a completely different social level
Dont just LDAR, each of you deserves a fulfilling life and you need to achieve it
