I joined this forum around the same time I graduated from college. I graduated in December 2017 and got my first job at a call center in May 2018. At the call center I was making 700$ every two weeks. Mind you, I was living with my parents, so I was able to pocket about half.
From May 2017-October 2018, I was simultaneously applying to the Navy OCS program. They hold selection boards every three months. I was not selected twice. And finally made it on my third time up.
I commissioned in the Navy and graduated OCS May 2019, and started making around 53K (Entitlements included).
6 Years later, I am now making 123K(Entitlements Included)
Moral of the story: Join the military, college or not. If you enlist, make sure you pick a STEM MOS/Rate...Cyber/COMMS/Intel/Electronics, that way you have a high paying gig once your contract is up, or you learn useful skills and stay in and progress making more money, E-6 makes 80-90K.
If you have a degree, commission and do 20 years.....
