These mf say it has to be reapplied every 2 hours but is it every 2 hours under the sun or 2 hours regardless if you’re exposed or not ??

Regardless if youre exposed or not. Youll still have some degree of protection left after 2h, applying this often seems excessive and unpracticable to me. One or two times should hopefully be enough

you realistically only need to reapply sunscreen if you use tretinoin and stay out in the sun

it really just depends on the brand, there's some new formulations that last longer than that.

tinosorbs S last all day and shows very little photodegradation, uvinul a+also lasts very long, most sunscreens are based on oxybenzone, octinoxate, homosalate, octisalate, octocrylene and avobenzone which aren't just shitty and degrade quickly, they're also hormone disrupting.

make sure that when you find a sunscreen that has these compounds, it doesn't contain the others, because many of the new formulations still contain some of the older generation filters that are bad for your system.

I hope so
It’s literally so restrictive to put that shit on
You have to wash your hands
Put the sunscreen
And rewash your hands bc of the greasy sensation you have afterwards

I have this one for my face when I use retinol, I make my own for most of my body.

the main protection in this one is mexoryl400 which is another new generation compound that doesn't disrupt hormones and doesn't break down easily.

yes, most of the new generation ones are expensive, hence why I make my own for most of my body, because all the cheaper ones contain one of the hormone disruptors I posted, I use a lot of sunscreen because I work outdoors so it has to be affordable.

self-made is usually oil based though, and you can't get away with that if you've already got oily skin, I will try and figure out how to make one that isn't based on oils this winter when I've got time to experiment ( I have to dig through hundreds of pages of mommy bloggers and translate it into actual understandable language )

most of the primitive sunscreens break down from heat and dissolve readily, the newer ones don't have this as badly.
