How Looksmax forum is built?

Just curios. Which framework they have used? (django, react, asp.net).

Why the majority of forums have similar frontend. (with some tiny differences?)

is it costly to main this forum? (server, updates etc.)

I fully understand that XenForo provides tons of tools and features out of box. I also understand that XenForo provides admins LITERALLY with admin panel, plugins etc etc.

But why not to build your own forum? from scratch. tons of people here, and no one knows how to write front/back end, admin panel, database?

maybe there is no funding, no money. I understand them. Nevertheless, there must be slow and steady development of new fully-configurable controllable forum. total control, flexibility.

for instance, they could released dark-theme WELL before xenoforo did it.

developing your own application and being independent to some organization gives you TREMENDOUS advantage over other forums.

other forums are just sitting and waiting for dark theme, while our forum (just for example) released it 2-3 years before.
