I've wondered this for a long time and I still don't know how often I should do it.
I use an Aloe Vera shampoo btw and occasionally ketoconazole if my eczema flares up.

avoid aloe vera

im pretty sure its quite estrogenic
What shampoo should I use then? I could use head&shoulders or Nivea men but I don't like the Nivea one.
I guess head&shoulders?

Dont use H&S its dog shit. Its SLS shampoo that makes your scalp and hair dry as fuck nad it caused dandruff for me.

Find natural shampoo.

That's too excessive, you're only making the matter worse.
Of course It's gonna get oilier and oilier if you keep washing it.

I tried using it less often.
For around 2 weeks, to try and get my scalp to oil less
Didn't work.
I even didn't wash it for a week
Tried washing it once every 2-3 days.
Nothing worked

When my eczema flares up I use it 2x or 3x before it goes away and then I stop and go back to usual shampoo

Yeah I use it during the summer bc it gets rid of my tinea versicolor that flares up in the heat. Not sure how good it is as an actual shampoo for hair health but that's a topic we've never really had threads about.

I also get bad dandruff, my hair also gets oily after 2 days of no shampoo.

Jfl who cares?

I use neutrogena TGEL, it’s the only shampoo that has alleviated my perma dry scalp tbh. I use it once a week usually and always towel dry or hairdryer with low heat.

Just use cold water.

I haven't shampooed in a month I think. No greasy hair or whatsoever. Only problem I have is when I use hairspray, that leaves my hair a bit fucked the next day. Also I need to cut the as they're dense as fuck rn, so it might actually be the real problem.

Have been shampooing them once a month, or even less for a couple years now,
Washing them regularly every day, and using hair conditioner when needed

I stopped using shampoo completely almost 3 months ago. My hair is naturally dry, so nothing really changed. I am washing my hair 3 times per week with just water. Once per week I use a deep repairing conditioner that I leave on for 10 minutes and the other two times I use a regular repairing conditioner so I can fix my heat damaged hair, and it honestly works.
