source:

Firefighters control and extinguish fires or respond to emergency situations where life, property, or the environment is at risk. Duties may include fire prevention, emergency medical service, hazardous material response, search and rescue, and disaster assistance.

So the median firefighters wage in the US is 57,000 or $27/hr. 50% earn more 50% earn less

The annual salary divided by the hourly wage tell us that the average firefighter works 40 hours a week

If you are in the top 10% earners of firefighters, you will make like 93,000 a year, as you can see. I dont know how the firefighter industry works, but look into getting into that top bracket. Living with less money than that isn't good.

what are you studying?
Still in Highschool, but I'm taking pre cal, physics, chem, and biology.
Might as well take all the options that could help down the road

I actually applied to be a fire fighter 6 months ago. They didn’t accept me tho. The pay here was around 2k a month and it was progressively increasing. Not too bad but far from good

Maybe that was for the best, my Dad's friend said it's one of the most stressful jobs you can take

Wouldn't expenses in those cities cancel out that extra money?
Even just rent in NYC costs around 3.9k

Yes exactly, hence fire fighter is not something u do to be rich.

100k is basically below median salary in NYC. I was in NYC in July and no joke I paid 40 USD for some basic as fuck Sichuan fried chicken, some fried green beans, rice. And a herbal tea.

U do that job cos u like the thrill, like the fact it can get u jacked, is seen as high value by women, and the benefits and job security are excellent, which is a rare thing.

And rent in Manhattan now u can forget about 3.9k, for a place for 2 person, South of say 62nd, ur looking at 5k.

The fireman and thise blue collar unuonsed guys will all live in queens, Bronx, or jersey
